ABOUT THE DIRECTOR OF PRODUCT ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

GigMasters (part of XO Group) is seeking a Director of Product Management to accelerate our transition to our next generation transactional marketplace. In the next year, GigMasters will undergo a complete transformation, including a rebranding and a relaunching of the platform and strategy. This is an opportunity to lead the charge during an exciting company pivot!

In this role, you’ll be the strategic and visionary leader on the product side, backed up by the GigMasters product team who have deep industry knowledge in managing a two-sided transactional marketplace. You will bring a combination of strong vision and high-level product process to ensure our success. You’ll drive modern best-practice product management. You’ll partner with editorial, marketing, and sales to build and launch the new GigMasters platform to balance business and user needs. You’ll join our small, high powered Product Leadership team, which works closely together and drives much of XO Group’s strategic direction. XO Group is a product and user centric company, seeking to solve the most important challenges while developing fantastic people. We work with autonomy, clear goals, and purpose.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Join as part of an ambitious founding team set to launch a new platform and reinvigorated business model.
  • Be the company go-to for these product areas and key partner to other functional leaders
  • Help set squad direction and strategy to meet or exceed product and business goals such as volume, engagement, NPS, and revenue
  • Develop a small team of great Product Managers who love what they do, and help them grow their careers
  • Be an important partner for the editorial, business, technical, sales, and operational teams as well as for other product leaders
  • Represent your squads and product leadership at the company level in cross-company discussions, presentations, and external events

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of product management, including facility with modern product management (agile, lean, iterative, outcome oriented, user-science informed)
  • Experience leading a product from conception to launch to maturity
  • Ability to set strategic direction for your group and with executive team
  • Experience with and respect for user science - intention (interviews, focus groups, surveys), action (usability, AB, analytics), etc.
  • Success growing products that balance user and business needs
  • Strategic mindset, understanding of business models and revenue thinking - you’re able to balance user and business needs while growing both
    • MBA is a plus
  • Consumer content, marketplace, and/or mobile product experience is a strong plus

ABOUT THE PRODUCT DESIGNER ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

We are looking for a full-stack product designer who wants to build products that matter! The Knot product designers are partners in full-stack, agile squads—collaborating on purposeful solutions that transform our business and deliver the highest value and experience to our planning couples.This is a great opportunity to be a part of a mid-size, entrepreneurial company with a lively start-up feel and to create user-first digital products for a passionate community of users.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Be a great product squad partner

  • Work as a partner in an autonomous, full-stack, product team, contributing at a strategic and tactical level on defining requirements, producing wireframes, storyboards, user flows, user interfaces and interactions, visual designs, prototyping, testing, and delivering pixel perfect design assets.
  • Work with web development and engineering teams to meet technical requirements for projects while balancing needs of users with technical constraints and business objectives.
  • Lead design studios to facilitate a shared design process and continue to raise the design IQ of partners.

Be a great product designer

  • Know and love our users, understand their pain points, listen to their feedback, walk in their shoes, be their champions.
  • Research, test, learn, iterate. Repeat.
  • Effectively present to and discuss solutions with stakeholders.
  • Maintain a spirit of shared ownership, cooperation, and accountability through all phases of product development.

Be a great design team partner

  • Contribute to the brand visual language and cohesive user experience as an ongoing creative endeavor through the honing of our brand digital guidelines, growth of our pattern library, and holistic site experience development.
  • Participate in design team reviews/critiques at various stages of UX and visual design phases to maintain a balanced and holistic product and brand overview.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • You have 3-6 years of experience as a user-experience designer who has experience designing for desktop, mobile web, and native mobile experiences.
  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Product Design, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, or a related field (or equivalent proven field experience).
  • You have experience defining patterns/style guides, performing user testing, and building low to high fidelity prototypes
  • You are proficient  in Sketch, InVision, Zeplin, usertesting.com. Additional programs (Photoshop & Illustrator) a plus.
  • You have a working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; iOS, Android.
  • You have a passion for research and have facilitated user testing and studies/analysis of user feedback
    and behavior.
  • You process quantitative as well as qualitative data alongside empathy as a driver to distill into innovative, user-centric solutions.
  • You are a strategic design thinker, a collaborator and a champion of the user who possess well-developed conceptual execution abilities and can confidently iterate on assets that deliver the simplest, most usable, high-value experience for our user.
  • You are an excellent communicator, capable of presenting your ideas clearly and in the context of usability, expressed user value and brand value proposition, while also anticipating your team and manager’s needs by communicating early and often.

ABOUT THE MARKETPLACE PRODUCT MANAGER ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

The Knot’s wedding vendor marketplace is XO Group’s largest revenue business, accounting for nearly 60% of company revenue. We believe personalization, search, and discovery will be the #1 driver of growth and improved user experience. We also are inventing new monetization products that will allow our wedding vendors to expand their reach on The Knot in targeted, user-relevant ways.

We are looking for a Product Manager to help us define the systems, algorithms, and experiences to power discovery across all parts of the customer journey. What does “relevance” mean for our couples when it comes to finding that perfect venue? How should vendor quality factor into the recommendations we’re making to couples? What can we do to help each step of the planning process feel personal and efficient for every couple?  You would lead a dedicated squad of engineers and collaborate with partners from across The Knot, including our Austin-based data science team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Product strategy - what is the best path to achieving our goal; are we working on the most important things? Do our stakeholders understand what we’re working on and why?
  • Execution - are we building premier products that achieve the desired outcomes for our couples, our wedding vendors, and the business?
  • Process - is your squad optimized for maximum impact and velocity? How is the squad adding value?
  • Product discovery - are we leveraging user science and hypothesis testing to maximize learning and accelerate achieving our goals?
  • Collaboration - you’ll work closely with other squads and cross-functional partners to execute against a strategic plan

SKILLS:

  • 2+ years of experience in product management in an agile environment
  • Experience with marketplaces a plus
  • Both detail oriented and strategic; you have the ability to prioritize day-to-day tasks while executing a broader, long-term vision
  • Strong consumer product instincts; you’re relentlessly user-focused and have experience with user research and UX principles

ABOUT THE SENIOR PRODUCT MANAGER  ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

XO Group is seeking a creative Sr. Product Manager to lead the product that our couples use to communicate with their wedding guests. We’re looking for that special someone to ensure that The Knot stays #1 in Weddings by bringing your entrepreneurial spirit, creative problem solving, and user-centric design thinking to our team.

You’ll oversee strategy and execution for The Knot’s largest scale product - Wedding Websites. The reach and usage of this market-leading product has grown substantially over the past three years and we have ambitious goals for the future. This is a high priority, high visibility position.

You are excited to join an experienced and talented squad leadership team (engineering, design, product marketing) to drive forward a full-stack product (web + iOS + Android).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • You’re conversant in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and APIs.
  • Rapid-prototyping tools like Sketch, InVision, and Framer really rev your engine.
