ABOUT THE HEAD OF USER RESEARCH ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

User research is critical at XO Group because our users - brides, newlyweds, and parents - are working toward meaningful milestones for the first time and need our products to help them solve real problems. Our user research work relies on mixed methods to helps us understand the people who use our products, providing insights to drive product direction and strategy. We're seeking an analytical and empathetic Head of User Research to represent user research across our org, lead our team of user researchers, and help couples plan the most important moments of their lives. We are looking for people that can take a human-centered approach to designing studies that provide an understanding of how people's attitudes, beliefs, or stated needs relate to their actions or behaviors.

The right candidates will be a strong communicator and passionate leader with a background in behavioral data analysis, experimental and survey research, product design, and statistics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with executives and product teams to identify research questions.
  • Be a thought leader in user research, while advocating for our users.
  • Lead, hire, and train a team of world-class user researchers.  
  • Design and execute studies that uncover user behavior and attitudes, using the right methodology for the questions at hand.
  • Generate, communicate, and present insights that shape how product teams think about product strategy.
  • Work closely with product design to map our users’ journey, conduct design sprints & studios, and test new products.
  • Educate the product team on user research best practices.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • A passion for understanding user behaviour, using any available methods
  • Degree in human-computer interaction, psychology, sociology, information science, computer science, economics, or a related field
  • 5+ years experience in user research at a consumer-focused product company
  • 2+ years experience managing user researchers
  • Extensive knowledge of user research methods
  • Experience answering meaningful and impactful consumer product questions using research
  • Experience communicating analysis and results to any audience
  • Detail oriented and self motivated to work independently on a variety of tasks

ABOUT THE SR. PRODUCT DESIGNER ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

GigMasters (part of XO Group) is seeking a Senior Product Designer to own the complete end-to-end experience of our exciting transition to a next generation inspiration led transactional marketplace. In the next year, GigMasters will undergo a complete transformation that you can own. It will become an inspirational and actionable marketplace with a new strategy, new brand, new experience and a new technical platform. This is a greenfield opportunity to lead the charge during an exciting company transformation.

Our Senior Product Designer will be an empowered partner who will work closely with customers, product managers, researchers, and developers on our agile squads. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Be a great product squad partner

  • Work as a partner in an autonomous product organization and contribute to all aspects of the experience at both a strategic and tactical level. We’ll expect you to generate ideas, help define requirements, and lead design initiatives for a fast-paced product squad that is building a vibrant two-sided marketplace. Day to day work includes user research, producing wireframes and user flows, detailed UI work for web, prototyping at varying levels of fidelity, and conducting user tests reporting user insights and collaboration with engineers.
  • Lead and facilitate collaborative design sessions that include a broad range of your colleagues – developers, product managers, marketing partners, and business stakeholders. We regularly conduct journey mapping sessions, design studios, design sprints, and user story mapping sessions – it’s all part of our process.

Be a great product designer

  • Contribute to the brand’s visual language and cohesive user experience as an ongoing creative endeavor through the honing of our brand digital guidelines, growth of our pattern library, and holistic site experience.
  • Participate in design team reviews/critiques at various stages of UX and visual design phases to maintain a balanced, cohesive, and unified product.
  • Actively engage with the wider XO Group design team to absorb their learnings and share yours.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • You have 3-6 years of experience as a user-experience designer who has experience designing for desktop, mobile web. and Native iOS app a plus.
  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Product Design, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, or a related field (or equivalent proven field experience).
  • You love inspirational content and have always wanted to push the boundaries of visual communication to inspire action
  • You have a passion for research and have facilitated user testing and studies/analysis of user feedback and behavior.
  • You are a strategic design thinker, a collaborator and a champion of the user.
  • You have experience defining patterns/style guides, performing user testing, and building low to high fidelity prototypes.
  • You have worked with and are familiar with prominent design systems.
  • Having created a production-use design system with engineering counterparts is a significant plus.
  • You are proficient in Sketch, InVision, Zeplin, usertesting.com. Additional programs (Photoshop & Illustrator) a plus.
  • You have a working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; iOS, Android. We won’t expect you to code, but familiarity is always a plus.
  • You are an excellent communicator, capable of presenting your ideas clearly and in the context of usability, expressed user value and brand value proposition, while also anticipating your team and manager’s needs by communicating early and often.

ABOUT THE SENIOR RESEARCH ANALYST ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

Research is highly regarded at XO Group, where we follow a mixed method approach to understand our customers. Our customers are central to our core value - Love Our Users. We’re growing the Research team to maximize our impact across the organization, especially on Product and Marketing strategies.

We’re actively seeking an analytical and empathetic Senior Research Analyst to help couples plan the most important moments of their lives. You'll have the opportunity to analyze our industry studies to inform sustainable, user-friendly products and to bridge the gap between qualitative and quantitative insights. You’ll be on the Research team, part of the Product organization, with strong connections to Market Research and Data Science. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistics, research methods, and data science.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis and the presentation of data to measure and communicate actionable insights.
  • Work at the intersection of User Research, Market Research, and Data Science to collaboratively communicate a cohesive customer narrative.
  • Oversee research data collection and drive developments in the quality of these initiatives and pull data from syndicated platforms.
  • Report on market sizing and opportunity, customer segments; integrate quantitative insights into qualitative research.
  • Educate Product team on quantitative research best practices.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 4+ years in a quantitative field, such as consulting, market research, or advanced Degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Engineering, or similar quantitative field
  • Knowledge in SQL-like query languages and statistical analysis
  • At least 1 year working on an agile team

ABOUT THE WEB ANALYTICS ANALYST ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

We are looking for a Web Analytics Analyst to help us plan more personalized and fun weddings in less timeas well as reimagine how people propose, navigate a pregnancy and raise healthy babies. The Analyst will identify insights and trends in our data, enabling us to build products that better address a couple’s needs during life’s most important moments. Given the unique perspective of working across products and brands, this role is positioned to influence decision making by providing thoughtful analytical insights.

This position in the Business Intelligence & Digital Analytics department sits at the intersection of User Experience, Product Analytics and Data Intelligence. The Analyst is closely aligned to the Product organization, contributing to the practice of analytics-based decision making, driving the selection and adoption of new tools, and educating the Product and Design teams on their use. The position also works in close collaboration with the Data Intelligence team to identify and cleanly capture the data required for our algorithms.

The Web Analytics Analyst will have the opportunity to expand his/her understanding of product development through participation in XO Group's Product School and by working alongside our prestigious product community. It is a great chance to grow as an analytics professional.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supporting the production and distribution of web analytics including:
    • Automated dashboards & reports
    • Ad hoc analysis as necessary to aid the Product organization in the analysis of web-based products
  • Maintaining the digital tracking infrastructure, including compiling and reviewing data requirements for the collection of web analytics and event data, and evaluating the product analytics landscape for new tools as they emerge
  • Educating and training the Product organization in the practice of Product Analytics and the accompanying toolset
  • Proactively identifying notable changes in patterns and trends across all products and brands
  • Helping to “clean up” and centralize data for consumption by multiple stakeholders

 TOOLS & TECHNOLOGIES:

  • Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager
  • A/B testing
  • Experience collecting and leveraging user event data for analysis (e.g. Segment, keen.io, MixPanel)
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Birst, Mode, Tableau, chart.io, d3)
  • Basic SQL querying skills

ANALYTICAL SKILLS:

  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills with a knack for recognizing trends/patterns in large data sets
  • Must be comfortable drawing key insights from data and communicating/presenting these findings to stakeholders and decision makers
