ABOUT THE ASSISTANT SOCIAL MEDIA EDITOR ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

The Bump seeks a talented, creative and enthusiastic Assistant Social Media Editor to join our team. You're a match if you are resourceful, able to juggle projects in a fast-paced environment, work within tight deadlines, are comfortable working independently, and have a strong sense of what defines success on social media platforms. You will report directly to the Associate Director of Social Media and work closely with The Bump editorial team. The Assistant Social Media Editor is a critical part of the social media department ensuring all platforms are driving traffic and other key metrics, while also contributing to The Bump editorial content.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Managing the day-to-day posting across The Bump social media channels (including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest)
  • Flagging and writing news-worthy posts for The Bump edit team, as needed
  • Reporting key metrics from each social media platform
  • Identifying social media partnership opportunities
  • Ensuring all organic and sponsored posts properly reflect The Bump brand
  • Working closely with the XO Group video team and The Bump edit team to pitch new video and story ideas to perform on social media

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 0-2 years social media experience (minimum of 1-2 internships in related field)
  • Passionate about the latest social media trends and how to creatively execute
  • Ability to identify and quickly report on newsworthy content
  • Editorial writing experience, preferably with a media company
  • Highly organized, driven and assertive
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of relevant software a plus (SocialFlow, Curalate, Facebook/Twitter Analytics, Google Docs, Excel, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Maintain positive work environment with high creative standards

ABOUT THE ASSOCIATE EDITOR ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

The Bump is looking for an Associate Editor to manage its pregnancy and parenting news vertical. You don’t need to have kids, but you do need to get excited about all things baby, birth and breastfeeding. This person will also work with the senior editor on evergreen content, including product roundups.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Source, pitch, write and build up to four news stories a day
  • Aid in social strategy, posting your own stories on the appropriate social media outlets when necessary
  • Write and update existing product roundups
  • Write and update existing core content articles
  • Lead annual gear awards: Best of Baby
  • Edit The Bump emails
  • Onboard contributors, including experts and parents wishing to share personal experiences

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-4 years of experience in related field
  • Excellent writer and ability to turn out quick, concise and clean copy
  • Strong news judgment
  • Experience building in a CMS
  • Working knowledge of SEO best practices  
  • Experience writing product copy is preferred
  • Experience creating short social-friendly videos is a plus
  • Familiarity with social tools like Social Flow, as well as analytic tools like Google Analytics a plus
  • Above all: Ability to empathize! Each pregnancy and parenting journey is unique.
