ABOUT THE ASSOCIATE ECOMMERCE EDITOR ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

XO Group Inc. is seeking an Associate Ecommerce Editor to craft compelling and unique shopping-focused content for The Knot & The Bump to meet affiliate link revenue goals. Our ideal candidate is resourceful, comfortable working independently and is able to work in a fast-paced environment. This individual will have experience in product journalism and be skilled at creating content that is SEO-optimized, engages our audiences and drives purchase.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Write, edit and optimize around 15 stories a month, working with the editorial team to ensure the content, voice and product recommendations feel modern and on-brand.
  • Research and cut high res product images for all stories.
  • Work with the audience development and editorial teams to identify and plan around editorial categories and seasonal tent poles that present a commerce opportunity.
  • Optimize all additional shoppable content outside of ecommerce-specific stories.
  • Develop best practices for ecommerce content.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of writing product roundups at a major site or brand.
  • Deep knowledge of SEO best practices.
  • Knowledge of Photoshop and understanding of image quality.
  • Strong organizational skills and a self-starter.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at one time.

ABOUT THE ASSOCIATE REAL WEDDINGS EDITOR ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

XO Group's The Knot seeks a talented and enthusiastic Associate Real Weddings Editor with a minimum of two years editorial experience to join our Real Weddings team. You’ll work with the Real Weddings editor researching, writing, and reporting on regional wedding trends for print and online. The Knot produces a quarterly national magazine and 16 biannual regional issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with Real Weddings team to review, source and pitch submissions for your Real Weddings stories
  • Generate other trend-worthy pitches for Real Wedding-related story franchises
  • Write weekly assignments for print and online
  • Regular communication with couples and vendors to accurately report and credit your real wedding stories
  • Create a database of industry experts and contacts
  • Source and call-in products for trend-based articles
  • Serve as a brand ambassador for The Knot at networking and social events
  • Research and understand the trends of regional markets
  • Some travel may be required

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 2 years editorial experience 
  • Strong understanding of wedding industry trends, experts and traditions/cultures of weddings around the world
  • Exceptional writing abilities to share the “yours truly” moments that make our Real Wedding stories unique
  • Media trained with on-camera and live event experience
  • Trend forecasting for all media outlets
  • Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite, Mac-Based K4 Systems and InCopy. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Docs
  • Undergraduate emphasis in journalism or English
  • Ability to multitask and juggle a number of  responsibilities under tight deadlines without compromising quality
  • Leadership—confidence in owning your stories, and able to articulate and debate ideas and opinions
  • A flexible personality and strong work ethic
