ABOUT THE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT INTERNSHIP:

XO Group is looking for an intern to join the Registry Business Development team! The Registry Business Development team works with retail partners to optimize and promote our wedding and baby registry offerings. As an intern, you’ll learn about performance-based partnerships and gain exposure to numerous cross-functional teams, from Finance and Marketing to Accounting and Business Intelligence. Our ideal candidate is business-minded, highly organized and detail-oriented and enjoys collaborating with others to drive results.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support team members in preparing client-facing presentations based on partner’s latest performance, partner product changes & impacts, XO’s product changes, etc.
  • Assist team members with monthly performance data validation for internal reporting to XO Registry key stakeholders that identifies macro & partner-specific Registry trends.
  • Conduct analyses to measure XO’s Registry product effectiveness for individual partners; make recommendations for product updates or marketing support where needed.
  • Assist with testing on desktop, IOS and Android devices to confirm proper tracking following XO Registry new product launches or updates.

ABOUT THE BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE & ANALYTICS INTERNSHIP:

We are looking for a Business Intelligence & Analytics Intern to help us plan more personalized and fun weddings/parties in less time—as well as reimagine how people propose, navigate a pregnancy and raise healthy babies, and celebrate life. The Analyst will identify insights and trends in our data, enabling us to build products that better address our users' needs. This position in the Business Intelligence & Digital Analytics department sits at the intersection of User Experience, Product Analytics and Data Intelligence. The Analyst is closely aligned to the Product organization, contributing to the practice of analytics-based decision making, driving the selection and adoption of new tools, and educating the Product and Design teams on their use. The position also works in close collaboration with the Data Intelligence team to identify and cleanly capture the data required for our algorithms. The Business Intelligence & Digital Analytics Intern will have the opportunity to work alongside our prestigious product & business community as well as our top notch software and data engineering staff. It is a great opportunity to learn on the job about a career in data and analytics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform the functions of a Junior Business Intelligence Analyst focusing specifically on an assigned project/set of projects identified at the beginning of the term.
  • Project work will focus on:
    • Identifying appropriate data points for analysis
    • Cleansing raw data from various systems
    • Identifying key business/product insights using trending analysis, statistical analysis among other techniques
    • Creating visualizations of key business/product insights for ease of analysis
    • Preparing presentations to share results of analysis with business/product stakeholders

  • Basic SQL querying skills

ABOUT THE DATA SCIENCE INTERNSHIP:

XO Group Inc. (formerly The Knot, Inc.) is looking for a meticulous data-oriented intern to support the data intelligence teams and specifically data science projects. The intern will work closely with our team to enhance our current predictive services. The ideal candidate will be open to working in a highly dynamic and collaborative environment, as well as have the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical partners at various levels within the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide data gathering and analysis in the support of data science related initiatives and services
  • Feature model analysis and general software testing
  • Troubleshooting, bug fixing
  • Help to ensure timely delivery of all documentation while providing input into project schedules

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Substantial progress towards a degree in computer science or some hard sciences field, with a strong background in mathematics and statistics
  • 2+ years of coding, preferably in Python; familiarity working with APIs
  • Background in classification algorithms a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent organizational, diplomatic, and problem-solving skills

ABOUT THE EDITORIAL INTERNSHIP:

The Knot seeks a summer editorial intern to work on its magazines and website. Depending on where you hope to gain experience and where your academic focus lies, you will have the opportunity to play a role in the development of our editorial content.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Researching stories, products and trends
  • Interviewing sources
  • Assisting with photo shoots and other general editorial projects
  • Pitching story ideas
  • Writing items for print or online, including SEO

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • You must be tech and Internet savvy, a strong writer and an effective multitasker
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Docs preferred
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and a CMS a plus
  • Undergraduate emphasis in journalism, English or communications is a plus
  • An interest in weddings is helpful and magazine/website experience is a plus

ABOUT THE PRODUCT MANAGEMENT MBA INTERNSHIP:

The Knot's Local Marketplace is a two-sided marketplace that helps couples discover and connect with their dream team of wedding vendors, and helps vendors grow and transform their business into the one they've always wanted. The Local Marketplace is XO's largest revenue business unit, spanning 250 people across our NYC, Austin, Omaha, and China offices. The Local Product team consists of 5 squads, each consisting of a product manager, product designer, tech lead, and software engineers. The VP, Product for Local Marketplace is seeking a Product Management MBA intern to assist in exploring new product opportunities, extracting insights from product & business metrics, and assisting in strategy development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Extracting insights from product & business metrics
  • Collaborating with product marketing and the squads to implement features that improve KPIs based on user science (qual + quant)

ABOUT THE PRODUCT MANAGER, VENDOR EXPERIENCE INTERNSHIP ROLE:

XO Group is seeking a Product Manager Intern, Vendor Experience to assist in our efforts to build a market-leading Marketplace and tools for our local Vendors. This is a very exciting opportunity for the right person, as the Local Vendor Experience team works to build a new generation of tools for pros. In the same way AirBnB connects hosts with travelers and Etsy connects artisans with shoppers, the marketplace team is looking to better connect Wedding Pros with engaged couples. The team is using user-centric and lean product methodologies to uncover user pain, identify their jobs to be done and build a liquid, healthy marketplace.

The Product Manager Intern will report to the Director of Product, Vendor Experience, and will work closely with other product teams including UX/Design, Engineering, and Product Marketing. In addition, you will get exposure to our partners in Operations, Sales, and Marketing. Because our products touch millions of users per month, and moves the needle for tens of thousands of pros, the ideal candidate must be ready to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment, and needs to be resourceful and well organized.

This is a paid internship opportunity. Applicants must be living in Austin, Texas to be considered.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze our data. You will have access to internal and external sources to analyze customer data, website metrics, and competitive insights to drive prioritization of the product backlog and future initiatives
  • Conduct user research on products (or prototypes) and experiences through a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative methods (e.g. interviews, usability tests, surveys etc)
  • Assist with developing product requirements and user stories and work with engineering and user experience to deliver the product on time
  • Partner with other teams (business, marketing, and operations) throughout the requirements, creative, build and implementation phases
  • Learn product management from a best-in-class Product organization
  • Learn about internal organizations that support product development

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Undergraduate B.S. or B.A. degree required
  • Enrolled and pursuing an MBA degree or equivalent (e.g. MSTC) encouraged
  • Prior work experience or internships in software, ecommerce, product or consulting roles preferred. Those with finance, operations, customer service backgrounds are also encouraged to apply

ABOUT THE ENGINEERING PRODUCTIVITY INTERNSHIP:

Engineering productivity is a team that works on optimizing our cloud infrastructure utilization using code and available open source tools like Kubernetes and Jenkins. The team aims to empower our engineering teams with better tooling for their deployments, more efficient and cost effective utilization of resources and better analysis of outages for the purposes of increased site reliability. The work is varied and had ranged from customizing Kubernetes deployments, applying statistical analysis for understanding log data, building chat bots that integrate with Slack and creating engineering tools from scratch.

As an intern you will work alongside team members in independent projects with guidance from other team members as well as pair with some members from the rest of our engineering team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Automating engineering processes
  • Analyzing environment utilization
  • Improving security practices
  • Working with AWS, Kubernetes, Github, Jenkins

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

The Studio @ XO is the in-house creative and production agency ideating and executing branded editorial, digital, video and social content across XO Group. Made up of creatives, marketers, editors, producers, writers, designers, technologists, tastemakers and storytellers, The Studio @ XO produces revenue generating content that serves XO’s audience and those who want to connect with them

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Brainstorm branded content ideas for articles, infographics, quizzes, influencers, videos and more in response to RFPs
  • Conduct research and interview sources
  • Write online content for our suite of sites and apps
  • Photo research and cropping as needed
  • Build content in our CMS
  • Monitor campaign analytics as needed.
