NEW YORK, NY/November 3, 2017  — The Knot, the #1 online wedding brand, will host the wedding of the year tonight for Olympic Gold Medalist and 2015 WNBA MVP Elena Delle Donne and Fiancée Amanda CliftonThe Knot Dream Wedding will bring together some of the most prestigious wedding professionals to create a personalized, elegant affair at The Hempstead House at Sands Point Preserve in Long IslandNew York. Fans are invited to watch The Knot Dream Wedding on Facebook Live at Facebook.com/TheKnot beginning at 5 p.m. ET, and can access behind-the-scenes action throughout the wedding day by following #TheKnotDreamWedding and @TheKnot on Instagram, Instagram Stories, Snapchat and Twitter.

“Amanda and I can’t wait to walk down the aisle and say ‘I do’ in front of all our closest family and friends,” said Elena Delle Donne. “The Knot connected us to the best wedding professionals to make our vision a reality, and truly took the stress out of wedding planning so we could enjoy each moment together. We can’t thank them enough for providing us with the ability to raise funds and awareness to help those in need.”In lieu of registering for gifts, the couple created a charity registry through The Knot allowing fans, family and friends to donate to the Elena Delle Donne Foundation, benefiting the special needs community, and those suffering Lyme Disease. Both causes are close to the couple as Elena’s sister Lizzie was born deaf, blind and with other disabilities, and Elena was diagnosed with Lyme Disease in 2008. In addition to their charity registry, the couple will donate their flowers after the wedding to the Margaret Tietz Nursing & Rehabilitation Center through Repeat Roses, the social impact-meets-sustainability solution for wedding flowers. Instead of disposing of the flowers after the wedding, Elena and Amanda chose to pass them on to be enjoyed by the patients receiving hospice and palliative care at the Long Islandcenter. With this donation, hundreds of pounds of floral waste will be diverted from the landfill. In addition, half of the food served during the night will be sourced locally from farms and creameries from the East End of Long Island.

“Elena and Amanda not only share a special bond and love for each other, but a deep passion for helping others and giving back,” said Kristen Maxwell Cooper, editor in chief of The Knot. “We’re thrilled to bring their wedding to life with the help of the incredible Jove Meyer and some of the most talented wedding professionals in the business.”

To plan and book this wedding, The Knot is working with its sponsors—All-Clad, Benchmark and BHLDN—and top wedding professionals from approximately 300,000 that are listed in The Knot wedding marketplace. Benchmark provided customized wedding bands for the couple, BHLDN provided dresses for Elena and Amanda, their bridesmaids and mothers, and All-Clad provided the couple with new cookware.

About The Couple
WNBA Washington Mystics player, MVP and Olympic gold medalist Elena Delle Donne and Amanda Clifton, director of De11e Donne Academy, met four years ago after being set up by a mutual friend. With their dogs by their side on their second date at the beach, they had a feeling it was a good match. Amanda would later propose to Elena at the same beach. The couple loves to work out together, play pranks on each other, spend time with their dogs and even create handmade wood furniture that they sell through ElenaDelleDonne.com. They’re also passionate about helping others through the Elena Delle Donne Foundation that benefits the special needs community and those suffering Lyme Disease. Both causes are close to the couple as Elena’s sister Lizzie, whom she shares a very special bond with, was born deaf, blind and with other disabilities, and Elena was diagnosed with Lyme Disease in 2008. The couple will say “I do” on November 3, 2017 in a wedding that will raise awareness and donations for the Elena Delle Donne Foundation through their charity registry on TheKnot.com.
