ABOUT THE STAFF ACCOUNTANT ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

XO Group’s Finance team is seeking a Staff Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting tasks and lead the revenue recognition procedures for National, Registry, Publishing and Commerce in our monthly close process. This job is for you if you love numbers as much as you love being in a creative atmosphere.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for recording revenue in accordance with applicable revenue recognition standards for National Advertising Business, including reviewing and interpreting new contracts, review of campaign under delivery and proper revenue recognition guidelines
  • Calculate quarterly bonuses
  • Perform quarterly review of bad debt expense/allowance for doubtful accounts for aging receivables
  • Assist with system implementation efforts related to areas of responsibility (National Advertising, Publishing, Registry and Commerce)
  • Review reconciliations on a monthly basis for all areas of responsibility
  • Perform financial analysis to support actual results vs. budget, forecast, and prior year variance analysis
  • Responsible for working with auditors on quarterly reviews, SOX controls testing, and substantive audit procedures surrounding areas of focus
  • Contribute to Finance team’s continuous process improvement and pursuit of excellence in systems and processes

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Great Plains knowledge/experience a plus
  • Proficient in MS office with extensive experience with MS Excel
  • Experience in media and revenue recognition a plus
  • Detail Oriented, roll up sleeves attitude, organized and an effective communicator

ABOUT THE ENTERPRISE PRODUCT MANAGER ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

As our Enterprise Product Manager, you have experience with customer facing systems, are focused on understanding the ‘why’ when solving a problem, and have a passion for solving problems through technology.  You are a team player, who enjoys understanding business priorities to build a product roadmap, and understand the importance of building customer relationships.  You will work with with other enterprise product managers, developers, and business owners to build the best enterprise solutions that will solve the businesses problems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with business partners to understand prioritization so you can own and manage the product roadmap
  • Gather requirements for business problems to be solved, which includes discovery documentation, business process diagrams, user story requirements
  • Manage product lifecycle of an initiative, which is focused on the requirements gathering process, iteration planning, and UAT support

REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years of SFDC experience as a power user, analyst, administrator, or solution architect
  • Ability to document and deliver SFDC best practices to stakeholders that meet business needs

  • Experience with Salesforce, preferably in an ad organization
  • Expert experience in requirements gathering, including GAP analysis
  • Very strong listening skills
  • Experience in an Agile environment, with focus on user story creation, backlog management, and roadmap planning

The Role

  • Assist in usability testing or research
  • Help ensure timely delivery of all documentation while providing input into project schedules

  • Conduct A/B tests and analyze results to optimize marketing strategies and campaigns across social and email. Tasks could include developing a test strategy, building creative, pitching video ideas to test out via social, and coordinating across teams.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and research to understand the industry landscape across social and email. Research effective social media campaigns, potential guest leads for Facebook videos and make strategic recommendations.
  • Evaluate Google Analytics to track KPIs and communicate insights (knowledge of any major analytics package a plus i.e., Omniture, etc.).
  • Present findings in regularly scheduled meetings.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work under the direction of the Director of Brand Experience in a support role to our senior designer
  • Attend weekly prioritization meetings and suggest ways to get project done more efficiently
  • Design in the look and feel of our established brand identities, as well as design guidelines provided by our advertisers
  • Passionately maintain integrity of our brands’ visual style while finding new and exciting ways to expand our use of existing design elements
  • Work on projects that include but are not limited to advertiser pitches and sold campaigns, rich media ads, sitelets, banner campaigns and emails, online editorial content features and tools, and site maintenance
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Brand Experience and Sr. Graphic Designer, and editorial teams to help ensure that the strategic goals and objectives are met
  • Provide design production assistance to the rest of the team as needed

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Currently enrolled in a BFA, BA or MA program for Graphic Design
  • 1+ years of work experience in a creative group
  • Strong design skills and portfolio
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Expert knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop. Knowledge of Flash is a plus
  • Familiarity with interactive principles including rich media, web design/development (HTML and CSS), responsive design and mobile
  • Sophisticated sense of typography with an attention to detail
  • Illustration skills a huge plus
  • Excellent communication, organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work on several projects with tight turnarounds is a MUST

Two Bright Lights is the simplest tool for photographers, planners, and other creatives to get your work featured in over 400 blogs, websites, and magazines. Our submission management system also allows editors to source amazing content, manage large volumes of incoming submissions for multiple publications, and streamline their editorial calendar.

  • Curate effective content across various social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and emails
  • Research social trends and new publications for creatives
  • Communicate with customers to answer questions and educate them on the Two Bright Lights platform
  • Assist with planning and production of Two Bright Lights events such as bootcamps and webinars
  • Support various marketing projects   

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Partner with your Product Design mentor to help solve the complex needs of our users and customers in a two-sided marketplace.
  • Brainstorm and collaborate with other product designers, product managers, and engineers.
  • Help create mockups, prototypes, and design specifications.
  • Assist with user research and usability testing to validate design solutions, including analysis and synthesis of output from a variety of qualitative methodologies.
  • Practice user-centered design, focusing not only on how the product looks but also how it works.
  • Learn how The Knot uses agile process and iterative development to rapidly deliver solutions.

The Knot seeks summer editorial interns to work on its magazines and website. Depending on where you hope to gain experience and where your academic focus lies, you will have the opportunity to play a role in the development of our editorial content—researching stories, products and trends; interviewing sources; assisting with photo shoots and other general editorial projects; and writing items for print or online.

The Studio @ XO is the in-house branded content team that ideates and executes editorial, social and video custom campaigns on The Knot, The Nest and The Bump. Made up of creatives, marketers, editors, producers, writers, designers, tastemakers and storytellers, The Studio @ XO creates content that serves our audience as well as the brands who want to connect with them.

  • Researching stories

RESPONSIBILITIES:

UX is a multidisciplinary field. In this internship, we'll focus on growing the your understanding of User Science. You will learn the methods we use to learn more about our users; about how they think, what they want and how our products meet (and don't meet) their needs.

  • Run usability tests on usertesting.com and report on your findings.
  • Run in-person "kids in the hall" user tests with people form around the office.
  • Participate in white-boarding sessions with the Experience Design team.
  • Schedule User Testing Interviews between our users and our moderators.
  • Provide support to moderators on User Testing days.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Interest in user science, user experience and design.

The Data Specialist Position is the gate keeper of incoming data to our business. We’re looking to hire a product marketing manager (PMM) for our growing marketing team. The PMM is the bridge between the products we build and the customers we serve. ABOUT THE REVENUE AD OPERATIONS ANALYST ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

  • Yield management

  • BA/BS Degree

Reporting to the VP of UX and Design, the Director of Product Design will lead and mentor a talented team of 3-4 Product Designers that work in a cross-functional squad model. RESPONSIBILITIES:

ABOUT THE SENIOR PRODUCT MANAGER - LOCAL DISCOVERY ROLE AND OUR TEAM:
 
The Knot’s wedding vendor marketplace is XO Group’s largest revenue business, accounting for nearly 60% of company revenue. We believe personalization, search, and discovery will be the #1 driver of growth and improved user experience. We also are inventing new monetization products that will allow our wedding vendors to expand their reach on The Knot in targeted, user-relevant ways. We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to own these related high impact initiatives.   • Execution - are we building premier products that achieve the desired outcomes for our couples, our wedding vendors, and the business
  • Process - is your squad optimized for maximum impact and velocity
  • Collaboration - you’ll be working with other squads to integrate your results into their features, and working with business teams to identify the parameters and algorithms that would lead to the most impact; are all partners aligned on strategy and tactics

Skills & experience:

  • 5+ years experience as a product manager in an agile environment
  • Experience in personalization, recommendations, data science, demand shaping, or similar use of quantitative mechanics to drive user behavior
  • You can diagram 3-5 different ways to implement recommendations, with pros & cons
  • You care about Outcomes over Output - the goal is more important than the roadmap

ABOUT THE ENGINEERING MANAGER ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

  • Manage two small to medium sized Squads of talented, technical, full-stack engineers.

  • Produce full-stack code using TDD in Javascript/Coffeescript & Ruby on Rails for our various registry tools and APIs.
