About the Assistant News Editor Role and Our Team

The Knot is looking to hire a temporary digital Assistant News Editor to join its team. The candidate for this role should have at least one to two years experience writing online news pieces and a strong background in compiling relevant lifestyle and entertainment pitches. Additional production experience will also be involved in daily work, including sourcing and cutting photos and securing wedding-related partnerships with entertainment sources. 

This individual should be a quick-thinking, fast-learning, love-adoring editor with his/her pulse on celebrity news, pop culture, viral stories, and more. The position will begin at six months and based on performance, it can evolve into a permanent position. 

Responsibilities

  • Keeps up with pop culture news and relevant news stories
  • Pitches creative story ideas daily, ranging from viral, wedding-related, celebrity news topics
  • Brainstorms entertainment ideas
  • Photo sourcing, cropping and editing; Digesting interviews and news stories rapidly
  • Occasionally interviews celebrities and come up with relevant questions and transcribing when necessary
  • Thinks ahead and maps out future entertainment partnerships
  •  Some weekends and late nights will be part of this role
 

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience at a digital brand on the editorial team; Added benefit if person can show clips correlated to analytics and metrics

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Edit and write both short- and long-lead content (including articles, slideshows, Q&As and news posts)
  • Assign stories and work with both in-house writers and freelancers to shape stories across all of The Bump’s digital platforms

ABOUT THE ACCOUNTS PAYABLE ROLE AND OUR TEAM
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Accounts Payable Associate to join our dynamic and high growth organization. This is a high-volume position that requires strong accounts payable knowledge, skill, and leadership. The Accounts Payable Associate will be responsible for the overall Procure to Pay process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist on month end close and special projects.
  • Weekly filing as needed.
  • Process check run weekly for all entities.
  • Responding to payables inquiries and manage email inbox.
  • Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies.
  • Sort and distribute incoming mail.

XO Group is rounding out the transformation of its FP&A team. Our FP&A team is the critical eyes and ears to the financial progress of our company.  This is the team that pulls together our numbers and analyzes our business in partnership with our executive teams.  We are seeking a new FP&A Analyst or possibly Associate (DOE) to join our effort adding another set of strong analytic and business skills to our team. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and produce management reports, business performance dashboards, and key metric tracking tools across XO Group, Inc.
  • Create monthly, quarterly, annual budgets / forecasts with relevant business teams
  • Complete actual results vs. budget / forecast / prior year variance analysis including written business performance commentary
  • Collaboratively work with the business team(s) to accurately summarize and present results to Senior Management;
  • Serve as the conduit bridging sales team performance to income statement results; responsible for updating and vetting the weekly Sales / Revenue forecast

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 years of corporate Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) experience

The Role

The Knot, part of XO Group Inc., a lifestage media company, seeks fall editorial interns to work on our magazines and website. Depending on where you hope to gain experience and where your academic focus lies, you will have the opportunity to play a role in the development of our editorial content—researching stories, products and trends; interviewing sources; assisting with photo shoots and other general editorial projects; and writing items for print or online.



We offer internships within our four teams; all teams produce work for both print and online. Please indicate your preference in your cover letter:

  • Fashion: This team’s beats include wedding dresses, fine jewelry, accessories and beauty.  
  • Style: Beats include cakes, flowers, stationery, registry, colors and décor

  • Real Weddings: This team produces all real wedding content while keeping up to date with what’s happening in our local markets in regards to trends, venues and experts  

Requirements

About the Associate Digital Art Director and Our Team
XO Group seeks a talented and enthusiastic Associate Art Director with 7+ years digital experience. As part of our in-house creative team, this position is responsible for the design direction of major marketing initiatives for our brands (The Knot, The Nest and The Bump), national advertising programs, XO Group branding and events. The Associate Art Director manages our Junior Designer and is a key creative partner with our ad operations and digital product team.

The ideal candidate would promote and practice user-centered design in creating products across web, mobile, email, social platforms and occasionally print. The majority of the work will be DIGITAL, but this person must possess solid PRINT skills too.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of the Creative Director and manage Junior Designer
  • Oversee simultaneous projects from inception to completion, reviewing project plans, timelines, designs, and deliverables
  • Conceptualize and design digital platforms of major marketing and national advertising programs including but not limited to websites, banner promotions, email, and social media graphics
  • Inspire creativity for the Junior Designer, giving feedback and overseeing design layouts
  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate with other designers, copywriters, product managers, developers and external vendors as well as other teams including Sales, Product, Human Resources, Public Relations, Events and Consumer Marketing to ensure that the strategic goals and objectives are met through the designs
  • Create detailed design specifications for the digital product team and prepare artwork for build, as well as maintain oversight of the build through our design review process

Requirements

  • BFA or BA in Graphic Design
  • 7+ years of digital and solid print design experience

  • Exceptional portfolio of work displaying a range of digital media applications, web, mobile, email, digital banners, etc.
  • Experience with brand development and designing branded experiences (with supporting portfolio examples)
  • Passion for clean, accessible, functional design and a sophisticated design sensibility

ABOUT THE EMAIL MARKETING COORDINATOR ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

Email Marketing Coordinator to report into the Email Marketing Manager. The Email Marketing Coordinator will be a key contributor in meeting sales and traffic goals. This position will support the execution of editorial, advertising and marketing emails, track key email metrics on an ongoing basis, derive insights from results and share recommendations with the broader Team and other departments.

The Email Marketing Coordinator must be able to react quickly to support business needs, determine daily activities, and program content while delivering to deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Managing day-to-day email production including campaign creation, audience building, suppression lists, link tracking, testing, and deployment
  • Managing the daily campaign schedule
  • Track key email metrics such as Delivered, Open Rate, CTR, Revenue, and Opt-out Rate by various email types and/or segments, establishing benchmarks for each. Work closely with the broader email team to analyze findings, identify trends and recommend a course of action.
  • Participate in the cross-flow of results and best practices with the broader Marketing, Editorial and Advertising teams in a timely and actionable format
  • Support the management of the email process workflow including planning email calendar with Creative and Advertising Operations
  • Proactively resolve problems and roadblocks in order to keep work flow on schedule and escalate higher level conflicts to manager for resolution

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and the ability to project manage several deliverables. 
  • Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years in email marketing and execution. A background in editorial, eCommerce or consumer products is preferable.
  • Prior experience in managing a daily email campaign and reporting on results is preferable.
  • Prior experience in working with an ESP is required.
  • Careful attention to detail without sacrificing deadlines and the ability to execute projects from beginning to end.
  • Strong knowledge of HTML
  • Ability to think strategically and work independently.
  • High energy – must be a deadline driven, highly flexible, and a multi-tasking master.
  • Comfort level with Excel. Fluency in Word and PowerPoint preferred.

The Multimedia Producer is a hands-on role pivotal in the production and delivery of multi-million dollar sponsored content pieces for XO Group’s key properties, theknot.com and thenest.com. This is a unique opportunity to work with many leading brands and internal stakeholders to deliver best-in-class custom content builds, administer the company’s video platform and help drive strong results for a product-first company dedicated to solving user problems.

Everything you do from building large sponsored content sitelets, to ensuring the presentation of contextually relevant videos on our sites, will be structured to delight both our users and advertisers.

Your toolkit will include our custom-built sponsored content management system and our video player platform, as well as a host of analytics tools you can use to check up on performance.

On a day-to-day basis, you will interface closely with the Studio @ XO including the designers and copywriters with whom you will partner to make content experiences sing. The ideal candidate has experience not only working with creatives, but also with sales stakeholders in the field pitching sponsored content.

Over time, you will be expected to gain an innate sense of what’s possible and manage Sales’ expectations accordingly, in part by working closely with our Sales Development and Product teams to set clear program parameters.  You will also interface with marketing, as well as the product management and engineering teams to whom your feedback will be quite valuable in shaping future custom content platform iterations.

XO Group is seeking a talented and driven full-stack engineer to join our Ad Tech Squad. The AdTech Platform Squad is responsible for revenue platforms at XO. The team is charged with constructing an ecosystem of products that leverages our vast stores of data to provide user first experiences with strong ROI for our advertisers. This may include developing or procuring new products to meet market needs, better integrating existing revenue products and data systems, replacing suboptimal solutions with better ones, and data integration to better allow us to assist brides through the critical planning and booking phases of their wedding journey.
