ABOUT THE DEPUTY EDITOR ROLE AND THE BUMP TEAM 

The Bump is looking for a Deputy Editor passionate about providing the right content at the right moment for millennial couples going through pregnancy and parenthood to join our nimble and high-performing editorial team.

In this exciting role, you’ll be creating and developing premium content that deeply engages and helps our users as they navigate this amazing journey of parenthood. You’ll manage day-to-day editorial operations, help develop a talented team of editors, collaborate with our in-house content marketing team on client sponsorships and, best of all, be part of a brand embracing digital and product innovations to help our parents through this incredible life stage.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Project management (including overseeing multiple project timelines and deadlines, working closely with edit project leads to ensure quality, collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Product and PR on large initiatives)  
  • Develop a deep and broad roster of freelance talent, as well as assign and top edit editorial content
  • Maintain editorial style guide
  • Ensure brand voice across all content
  • Optimize and update content
  • Develop new content ideas for needed content areas
  • Manage and coach editorial team
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • 8-10 years of editorial experience at a national digital media site
  • Deep knowledge of SEO best practices
  • Experience editing and writing health and medical content and passion for our parenting audience
  • Creative thinker with a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Desire to be part of a fast-paced, agile team that works and pivots quickly
  • Stay ahead of digital trends as it relates to The Bump audience
  • Excellent communicator, collaborator and team builder

ABOUT THE STYLE AND PLANNING EDITOR ROLE AND OUR TEAM:
Are you obsessed with weddings, know the difference between fondant and buttercream or get excited when Pantone introduces their new color of the year? Well then, your dream job just opened up at The Knot. We’re looking for an insanely creative, hard working editor who will be equal parts writer, reporter, market editor, organizational genius, and tastemaker.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Writing about all things decor and style (trends, colors, cakes, favors, stationery, flowers, registry, DIY) and planning (photography, catering, transportation, timelines)
  • Covering wedding-related trend stories
  • Interviewing experts, building/fostering new relationships with industry pros like planners, florists, bakers, photographers, caterers
  • Market editing; curating product roundups, participating in photo shoots
  • Curating and writing all the style and planning content for the national magazine (4 issues annually) and our regional magazine (2 issues annually); includes: FOB, franchises, feature well and 1 to 3 shoots per issue

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 to 7 years working on a website or magazine in a related area, ideally a national consumer publication
  • Absolute love for the subject matter (after all, what’s not to love about beautiful centerpieces, awesome DIY projects and gorgeous cakes?)
  • Strong conceptualizing and storytelling skills
  • Strong writing skills (writing clips required)
  • Photoshoot experience
  • Ability to present to groups
  • Expertise in InCopy a plus
  • Extraordinary knack for multitasking
