The Role

The Knot, part of XO Group Inc., a lifestage media company, seeks a winter design intern. This is a great opportunity for a talented designer with an interest in editorial design. You will be a part of the design and production process from start to finish. Administrative tasks will be included in your daily responsibilities and you will have the opportunity to design layouts for our national, regional and digital magazines as well as work on designs for online and social media. Time management and organizational skills are a must. 

Requirements

  • Must have advanced skills in InDesign, Illustrator and PhotoShop.
  • Must have good eye for photography, typography and understanding of grids
  • An interest in weddings is helpful and magazine/website experience is a plus

You must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program or be a recent grad to apply. This is a paid internship and school credit is optional. The internship is part-time (two days a week) for 18 weeks, starting in mid January and extending to early May.

The Role

Pregnancy and first-time parenthood website TheBump.com seeks a winter/spring intern with a strong interest in online publishing. You will learn an incredible amount about how a website is run and maintained on a day-to-day basis by helping to build, update and optimize articles, researching products and trends and assisting in other general departmental projects. There are additional opportunities to research and write articles and slideshows.

 

Requirements

The right candidate for this position will be smart, enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, a problem solver, a go-getter and, above all, a team player.

  •       You must be a strong writer and tech- and Internet-savvy
  •       Undergraduate emphasis in journalism, English or communications
  •       Ability to work efficiently, multitask effectively and meet deadlines
  •       Experience with Google Docs and Adobe Photoshop is preferred
  •       Basic knowledge of SEO and CMS is a plus
  •       An interest in pregnancy and babies is also helpful

The Knot Editorial Interns

The Knot, part of XO Group Inc., a lifestage media company, seeks spring editorial interns to work on our magazines and website. Depending on where you hope to gain experience and where your academic focus lies, you will have the opportunity to play a role in the development of our editorial content—researching stories, products and trends; interviewing sources; assisting with photo shoots and other general editorial projects; and writing items for print or online.

In Spring, we have two internships available: Fashion and Style. Please indicate your preference in your cover letter:

Fashion: This team’s beats include wedding dresses, fine jewelry, accessories and beauty.  
Style: Beats include cakes, flowers, stationery, registry, colors and decor

XO Group Photo Intern

The Knot, part of XO Group Inc., a lifestage media company, seeks a spring intern to work in our photo department. You will conduct photo research for print and online projects, including real weddings, and help with photo archiving. Administrative tasks will be a big part of your job as well.

  • Undergraduate emphasis in journalism or communications is a plus
  • An interest in wedding photography, publishing, Internet media and photo editing is helpful

You will have the opportunity to play a role in the furthering the development of our social media channels—creating social media content, interacting with nearly two million social media fans, and assisting with special projects, among other duties.
